Montgomery County commissioners are set to discuss moving forward on a May road and infrastructure bond Jan. 28 to begin addressing nearly $1.5 billion in infrastructure needs for the county.

According to agenda documents posted Jan. 24, commissioners will discuss setting up a workshop to discuss a bond issue in May which will address road and infrastructure needs across the county.

According to previous Community Impact reporting, commissioners first discussed a potential road bond initiative in 2024; however, work on creating the bond was postponed until 2025 due to concerns regarding voter turnout during the general election.

Commissioners will also discuss the creation of a new policy which will limit the ability of officials who have not been re-elected to spend county funds without receiving approval from Commissioner's Court.
