Oak Ridge North City Council members approved several payments to contractors for construction work on major projects within the city Jan. 8, including the Robinson Road realignment and relocation of the city's public works and police departments.

The details

City Council members voted to approve two payments toward the relocation of the public works and police departments into a single building as well as Robinson Road construction materials:
  • $82,685 for Robinson Road realignment construction materials
  • $659,021 for relocation of the public works and police departments
According to Public Works Director James Corn, the concrete foundations for the new city buildings have been completed, and utility connection work is in progress.

What else?

The contractor for the Robinson Road project will provide testing of construction materials throughout the construction process, Corn said.


Corn also informed council members that a preconstruction meeting was held Jan. 4 with all stakeholders for the Robinson Road project before groundbreaking on the actual road work.
