Oak Ridge North council member Clint McClaren announced his resignation ahead of the Dec. 18 City Council meeting, citing personal reasons.

What happened

Council members accepted the resignation of Clint McClaren during the council meeting. According to city officials, McClaren resigned due to professional opportunities and could no longer serve full time on the council.

In order to fill the vacant seat, council unanimously approved appointing Holly McClaren, wife of Clint McClaren to the City Council. Holly McClaren will fill the position for the remainder of the term until 2025, when the position will be up for election.

“I want to thank Clint for all he's done. He's been on City Council for a number of years now and he is very appreciated,” Mayor Paul Bond said. “He's put in a lot of time and effort to this city and he's moving on to other things, and I don't blame him. It's for the better of his family, and I wish him well.”

Council also received an update from Public Works Director James Corn regarding construction on the Robinson Road realignment project. According to city officials, a groundbreaking on official construction work is set to occur sometime in January, with February being the latest a groundbreaking would occur.
