A new report highlighting recent progress and efforts by The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership was presented at the Dec. 6 The Woodlands Township board of directors meeting.

Gil Staley, CEO of The Woodlands EDP, presented the annual business report to township officials. The report serves as a precursor to the annual Economic Outlook Conference, at which the EDP provides new job data.

According to the presentation, 14 formal inquiries were made by companies outside the state or outside of the country to locate either a headquarters or a branch office within The Woodlands.

Staley also highlighted a number of business expansions in the area, including:
  • Woodforest National Bank
  • White Fleet Abandonment
  • Othram
  • Western Midstream Partners
  • Ring Energy
  • Waste Connections
  • The Cannon

“We are a resource to, and advocate for, employers," Staley said. "At one time, we used to say major employers; we asked for the consideration of the board to change that. We're more than that. We represent small businesses well, all employers that contribute to the economics that we enjoy in this community."

What’s next

The Economic Outlook Conference will be held Feb. 16, according to The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce website, and it will provide a breakdown of major employers and jobs report for 2023.
