Officials with The Woodlands Township's parks and recreation facilities, including pools and Texas TreeVentures, have announced their fall schedules, and a new feature at Bear Branch Park is under construction.

The specifics

The Woodlands’ pools are on a postseason schedule through Sept. 4. During the next few weeks, one weekday pool and nine weekend pools are operating.

• Ridgewood Pool, 4192 Interfaith Way, The Woodlands, is open Monday through Friday from 1-6 p.m. and closed Tuesdays.
• Cranebrook, Forestgate, Harper’s Landing, Lakeside, Ridgewood, Sawmill, Shadowbend and Wendtwoods pools, and the Rob Fleming Aquatic Center are open Saturdays noon-6 p.m. and Sundays 1-6 p.m.
• Postseason pools are open Sept. 4 from noon-6 p.m.

Also of note

Texas TreeVentures is offering special events during the fall, with off-season availability for Friday through Sunday and on school holidays, including Sept. 4, Oct. 9 and during Thanksgiving Break except for Thanksgiving Day.

Looking ahead

Work on improvements at Bear Branch Park is underway, including a sprayground area, according to signage at the park. The Woodlands Township board of directors approved a contractor for the project at an April 26 meeting, with plans to being work in mid-August.

• As of Aug. 16, the area was surrounded with fencing and signs stating the improvements will be completed by the end of 2023 with the splashpad opening in spring 2024.
• Information from the township states in addition to $1.5 million for the spraygrounds, improvements slated include $300,000 for batting cages and $500,000 for parking lot expansion.
