After a break of more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Woodlands Township will resume its incorporation planning meetings June 17 with a meeting before its regularly scheduled monthly board of directors meeting.
As the coronavirus pandemic emerged, the board of directors decided in March 2020 to defer finalizing the process begun in 2018 when it began a study examining costs associated with incorporation. The next step in the process was to be community engagement, the board said at the time. Since 2020, however, financial information generated in 2019 will need to be updated as lengthy closures affected township revenue, particularly in areas such as hotel occupancy tax collections and sales tax revenue, according to information presented at board meetings.
The incorporation planning meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. at the office of The Woodlands Township, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd, The Woodlands, followed by a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Agendas for the meetings can be viewed on the township website. An item for incorporation planning discussion is also on the regular meeting agenda. According to information on the agenda, the item is included every month at the request of board Chair Gordy Bunch.
