What should homeowners know  before deciding on a master bedroom addition?

Homeowners should get recommendations when choosing a decorator or contractor and get bids from them to know the cost of the updates before they begin. If they plan ahead and order materials in advance, there will be fewer delays.

What are some basic features a master suite should have in order to boost a home’s value?

The location of the master suite can influence a home’s value. If it is on the first floor of a two-story home or in a quiet area away from the children’s rooms, it will have more value in the eye of the appraiser. A master bath with two sinks, a separate shower and tub, bright lighting and adequate closet space will have the basics to increase value.

What are some amenities a master bathroom should have, and how should it correspond to the layout of the master suite?

Some other ideas to consider when updating or building a master bath would be adding a shower enclosure, a free standing tub, vessel-style sinks or rain-style shower heads. Beautiful materials are available for counter surfaces, such as marble, quartz, granite and other natural stone. Horizontal tiles in a broken joint lay are also great for showers and floors. The new wood-look tile adds warmth and interest. It is also important to keep the style and color scheme in the bathroom compatible with the master bedroom.
