The Woodlands area offers a number of camps for children of all ages this summer. Options range from overnight camps to academic camps to special interest camps in specific fields, offering something for every child.

Children develop questions, observe details, collect information, form explanations and apply their understanding to the world around them.

Camps run weekly Monday through Thursday. Discovery College programs are STEM-focused and are specifically designed to engage children in key areas, such as science, technology, engineering and math, to promote a learning experience.

Every camp theme has a technology focus plus creative activities, academic enrichment and recreation time.

Normally $200 half day, $350 full day. $75 non-refundable deposit due at time of registration Camps at In-Step Dance Company will include a variety of themed camps for dancers, acrobats, or cheerleaders. Camp themes include: A Fairy Ballet Princess Wonderland, Princess Party, Fairy Ballet Princess Wonderland and Princess Party. Camps for an adventurer/acrobat include: American Girl Adventure Camp, Circus Arts Camp, CHEER Camp. There are four creative classes each day. Projects will include painting with different types of paints, 3-D construction, artful collage, learning drawing techniques using oil and chalk pastels, and doing unusual crafts.

Whether they are beginners or advanced students, campers will find that the instruction and activities at the camp will challenge, improve and enhance riding ability.

Sea Campus Kids, a day camp, is also available for ages 6-11.
Wonder-Space Tech Camp The Woodlands Township Recreation Center, 5310 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands 877- 972-2671 www.wstechcamp.com Ages: 8-16 Dates: June 6 -Aug. 8 Cost: $799 (weekly) Wonder-Space Tech Camp offers a variety of courses. Campers can choose from game design, media and graphics, and engineering and programming courses. Lego robotics, Minecraft 3-D game design and Java programming are some of the projects campers will take on.
The Woodlands Children’s Museum 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, The Woodlands 281-465-0955 www.woodlandschildrensmuseum.org Ages: 4-8 Dates: June 6-Aug. 18 Cost: $69-$154 (per week) The Woodlands Children’s Museum offers summer workshops where the curriculum is age appropriate, developmentally sound and fosters creative thinking. Workshops offered for younger children include art, cultural discovery, construction and science concepts. Older children can select from pre-engineering concepts, strategy and mechanical principles with team-building collaboration.
OVERNIGHT CAMPS
Camp Allen Camp Allen Conference and Retreat Center 18800 FM 362, Navasota www.campallen.org/summercamp Ages: third grade-12th grade Dates: June 5-Aug. 11 Cost: $594 (one week) Located in Navasota, Camp Allen’s summer camp is one of the largest summer camp programs in the Episcopal Church. Each summer, over 1,900 campers from across Texas come to refocus and relax. Scholarships for the camp are also available. Camp activities include archery, horseback riding, canoeing, swimming, and arts and crafts.

Camp Blessing Texas also invites all siblings, ages 7-13, of their campers to be a camper as well. Older siblings (age 14+) have the opportunity to volunteer at camp.

Campers experience high-energy activities, meaningful worship, small group discipleship and opportunities to hang out with college-age creek staff. For kids who have completed K-fifth grades, they can also participate in the Wild Camp, which is a camp with animal-themed cabins, a water park and a climbing jungle.

Frontier Camp[/caption]Frontier Camp 131 Frontier Camp Road, Grapeland 936-544-3206 www.frontiercamp.org Ages: 7-17 Dates: May 29-July 30 Cost: $725-$775 Frontier Camp is a Christian non-denominational co-ed summer camp offering weeklong camp sessions for children and teens. Located about two hours north of Houston, the camp offers eight camp weeks beginning the first week of June. The camp features recreational fun, such as wakeboarding, archery, a ropes course and horseback riding.
Leadership Camp Texas Stoney Creek Ranch 1912 Zimmerscheidt Road, New Ulm 718-800-7523 Ages: fifth grade-eighth grade Dates: July 2-July 8 Cost: $600-$700 Leadership Camp Texas is a one-week summer camp to help boys develop into leaders among their peers through cabin competitions, night games and Xtreme Olympics. The camp’s schedule is designed to motivate campers and serve others while developing friendships.

Students are trained by instructor Andrey Geva and his staff and learn about the sport of competitive fencing.

Sports are played and enjoyed with a blend of instruction, sportsmanship and competition. Professionally trained camp counselors make sure that every child has a safe and fun summer camp experience. The sports complex will have a summer camp open house April 17 from 1-4 p.m.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes Texas Motorcross Camp Rio Bravo Motocross Park 11610 N. The camp builds its curriculum, schedule and activities from experience in ministry and motocross. This camp is for girls and boys and for both beginners and advanced riders. Camp officials suggest some ride time on the bike, but do not require the camper to have raced already
