There are several community events taking place through Aug. 17 in The Woodlands area, including an indoor shopping event, outdoor movie nights and workshops. Check out a few of them below. This list is not comprehensive.

21st Annual YMCA Kids Triathlon

Presented by Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands, the YMCA Kids Triathlon is designed for children ages 6-13. All children must be able to swim several laps of the pool and ride a bike with pedals. For safety reasons, all athletes are required to wear bike helmets and shoes. The registration deadline is July 14.

Boutique Pop-up Indoor Shopping Event

Big Top Entertainment will hold a shopping event with several exhibitors selling boutique clothing, accessories, shoes, home decor, furniture, gourmet food, dips, sauces, art, yard decorations and holiday items.

Ardest Gallery will hold an event where attendees will be able to create their own clay planters with the guidance of Tiffany Nesbit during a two-hour workshop. Each student will receive an unfired planter to decorate with clay supplies. No prior experience is required.'Big Hero 6'


The Woodlands Mall will host a complimentary movie night featuring “Big Hero 6,” an animated movie about robots. The movie will be shown in the outdoor lifestyle area near Barnes & Noble, and will include treats while supplies last.Family Bingo Night

The George & Cynthia Woods Mitchell Library will present “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” a Universal Pictures film about Puss’ adventure as he realizes he is on his eighth out of nine lives.

Yes to Youth Gala

The Yes to Youth Gala will feature a pop art-themed event featuring a bid board, a live auction, a three-course dinner and an after-party.The event is designed to teach the community about Yes to Youth, a non profit organization with the mission to provide emergency shelter for youth in crisis as well as strengthen the emotional and mental health development of youth and families through counseling.Dive-in Movie


The Woodlands Township Aquatics will host a movie night at the pool featuring “Finding Nemo,” swimming, limbo, pizza and games.

Invasive Species Workshop

Attendees can learn how invasive species affect larger ecosystems and waterways, and contribute to monitoring and removing them from pathways and green spaces as a trained volunteer under the guidance of invasive species experts. This event is for ages 16 and up.
