The Montgomery County Animal Shelter is partnering with the national nonprofit Petco Love to offer a free vaccination event at the Woodforest Bank Stadium in Shenandoah.

According to the shelter, the drive-thru event aims to vaccinate 500 pets. Vaccinations will take place from 10 a.m.-noon March 27. Free microchips will also be available.

MCAS officials said the event will be limited to county residents, and supplies are limited on a first come, first served basis. Director Aaron Johnson thanked Petco Love for providing grant funds to make the vaccinations possible.

“We urge community members to take advantage of this free resource to help reduce the spread of disease and ensure the health and wellness of our community’s pets,” Johnson said.

Petco Love declared March as National Pet Vaccination Month to encourage pet owners to keep their animals up to date on vaccinations against diseases, such as rabies and distemper.
