Easy Foster, Conroe ISD director of planning and construction, provided a variety of project recommendations and capital improvement updates during a Feb. 15 regular board of trustees meeting.

Foster provided an update on the following CISD projects:

2022 safety and security project

The annual safety and security project was approved in January. The project includes upgrades to campus security systems, such as access controls. The projects are being done during nights, weekends and breaks. The 2022 safety and security project is expected to be completed in fall 2022.

Creighton Elementary School



Creighton Elementary School projects, which include a new ground water tank and kitchen expansion, are expected to be completed in summer 2022.

Moorhead Junior High School

The new Moorhead Junior High School in the Caney Creek feeder zone is on schedule to open for the 2023-24 school year.

Conroe High School


Conroe High School is in the process of receiving upgraded athletic projects, including a new junior varsity football field, locker room and gym area. The projects are set to be complete in 2025.

Walter P. Jett Continuing Education Center

The new teacher training center will receive occupancy certificates in February and is expected to open in spring 2022.

Annette Gordon-Reed Elementary School


The new Annette Gordon-Reed Elementary School is being painted and light fixtures are being hung up, among other projects. The school is set to open in August.

Oak Ridge High School

Foundation is set for the new Oak Ridge High School administration building. In addition, the school is set to receive air conditioning upgrades. The entire project is set to finish in August 2023.

Wilkerson Intermediate School


The new physical education and gym space is in use. A passageway project will connect the new building and existing building, and it is expected to be completed during spring break.

Conroe High School 9th Grade Campus

The Conroe High School 9th Grade Campus is receiving an expansion. The school will be ready in August.

According to the district, a variety of new district projects are in the planning process. Future projects include a new turf football field for Oak Ridge High School, The Woodlands High School and College Park High School, which will be completed in August 2022; a new elementary school in the Grand Oaks feeder zone; kitchen renovations to Galatas Elementary, David Elementary and The Woodlands College Park High School; annual campus maintenance projects; and a Caney Creek High School upgrade project, which includes upgrades to athletic facilitates, security upgrades and a new front door.


Also during the meeting, the board received an update on the school color and mascot selection for the new Annette Gordon-Reed Elementary School, which will open in August. The school colors are navy blue, yellow and gray. The district received over 100 mascot nomination submissions, and the top choices were the tiger cubs and alligators. According to the district, students will vote and a recommendation will be brought to the board in March for a decision.
