MetroPark Square, a 69-acre mixed use development under construction at the southeast corner of I-45 and Hwy. 242 in Shenandoah, is slated to open by March 2019, Sam Moon Group officials announced in a news release Dec. 28.

The three-phase project includes 175,000 square feet of retail space, a 325-unit apartment complex, two select service hotels, 600 units of multifamily living space and a full service hotel. The developer, Sam Moon Group, began construction on Phase 1 in November 2016.

Previously confirmed tenants include a 41,500-square-foot AMC 10-screen movie theater, a 40,000-square-foot Dave & Busters, a 160-room Hyatt House extended stay hotel and an Urban Air Adventure Park located directly adjacent to MetroPark Square, in the Sam Moon Center. Retail leasing at MetroPark Square is managed by NewQuest Properties, according to the release

“We are looking forward to the completion of the AMC movie theater at MetroPark Square,” said Daniel Moon, Sam Moon Group vice president, in a statement. “We are confident that MetroPark Square will re-energize the Shenandoah and The Woodlands area and offer visitors a unique, upscale experience.”

According to the release, the AMC-10 is slated to open in February and will feature Dolby Cinema and IMAX technology. Urban Air Adventure Park will open in March and feature a wipeout ride, indoor skydiving, a ropes course, a climbing wall, a trampoline range, a ninja warrior course, full bar and restaurant, according to the release.

“The city of Shenandoah is thrilled for MetroPark Square and all the attention it will bring to Shenandoah and The Woodlands area,” Shenandoah Convention and Visitors Bureau Director John Mayner said in a statement. “The variety of entertainment and dining that will be available at the development will create a wonderful new destination point for the city of Shenandoah. We can’t wait to see it open.”

In addition, MetroPark Square will feature a central green space area with a pavilion where monthly events are expected to take place throughout the year. According to the release, Sam Moon Group plans to announce MetroPark Square’s official grand opening in the coming months.
