Building on the existing retail and residential space in Hughes Landing, The Howard Hughes Corporation announced it will build an additional 386 new units in the master-planned development in the next two years.
The multifamily property is expected to be complete by spring 2020 and will feature space for retail and restaurant tenants on the ground floor, according to a June 23 announcement from the development company.
The property will be located on Lake Woodlands Boulevard, adjacent to Lake Woodlands as well as One Lakes Edge, the first multifamily project at Hughes Landing, the first phase of which was completed in 2015.
A name for the new property has not been announced, however, the company is targeting a construction start date in mid-July, said Lorrie Parise, public relations and community relations manager for Howard Hughes.
“These luxury apartment homes keep with the Hughes Landing vision of a vibrant waterfront community, an exciting hub where people can truly live, work and discover,” said Crystal Bledsoe, national multifamily asset manager for The Howard Hughes Corporation, in a release.
The complex will include one-, two- and three-bedroom options with 10-foot ceilings as well as washers and dryers in each unit, wine storage and smart home technology that will allow residents to control home functions, such as lighting, temperature and locks with their smartphones.
The property will also feature outdoor amenities, including a fitness center, a sky lounge, a resort-style swimming pool and outdoor entertainment areas. It is also within walking distance to retail space in Hughes Landing and Restaurant Row and Lake Woodlands. Officials said health and wellness was a major factor in the property’s design.
“The new multifamily homes will be shaped by the natural environment, beauty and activity, which surrounds The Woodlands and adjacent lake,” Bledsoe said. “Our design concept takes full advantage of the surroundings with views of the lake, nearby shopping and dining, and outdoor recreation, all within a walkable setting.”
