Lone Star College announced it will not reopen its campuses until June 1 to promote employee and student safety.
"The safety of our employees is of the utmost importance,” LSC Chancellor Stephen C. Head said in a press release. “Lone Star College employees have joined our students in transitioning online, working from home to ensure we continue to provide the support and resources necessary for our students to succeed.”
While the campuses remain closed, the press release states grants are available to students to help cover expenses incurred by the coronavirus, including food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and child care.
Head said LSC has transitioned around 6,300 classes to an online format for the time being.
