The Woodlands Township board of directors will hear from developers discussing preliminary plans for The Woodlands Mall as well as a presentation from CenterPoint Energy regarding repetitive outages in the Creekside Park area at its Jan. 19 meeting.

According to the agenda for the meeting, Brookfield Properties will present preliminary plans for a proposed project at The Woodlands Mall. This comes after an economic development agreement was approved in November between the mall, the township and The Woodlands Township Economic Development Zone, which overlaps the boundaries of the township. Details about the proposal were not included in meeting materials, but previous discussion indicated the potential for an expansion at the mall site with additional retail, two hotels and a parking garage.

CenterPoint Energy will also be giving a full presentation regarding the series of power outages experienced by residents in Creekside Park and Sterling Ridge in late 2022. CenterPoint previously sent a letter to the township board outlining some of the causes and planned solutions at its Dec. 7 meeting.

The board will also discuss re-establishing an ad hoc Economic Development Committee. This committee was originally formed in 2013 and renewed annually, but it was not renewed in 2021 or 2022.

U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady will also be recognized and honored by the township board of directors for his retirement from service as District 8 representative.

The Woodlands Township meeting will start at 6 p.m. at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd.,The Woodlands, and it will be livestreamed as well.
