The Montgomery County Animal Shelter announced as of June 28, it is over capacity and will waive all pet adoption fees in an effort to free up room.

MCAS currently has 910 animals in the shelter, but as an open admission shelter it continues to receive animals on a daily basis, according to a press release from MCAS Director Aaron Johnson.

Johnson said there is not currently an end date set for the free adoptions, and both dogs and cats are available.

All adoptable animals have been vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, spayed and/or neutered.

"Every little bit of help we receive is very beneficial," according to the release said. "We would be so thankful and grateful to get them into loving homes."

MCAS is open 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday for adoptions. More information about the shelter can be found at www.mcaspets.org.
