The Oak Ridge North City Council approved updates to its baseball field rental policy and passed two ordinances related to area energy providers at its April 22 regular meeting.
After hearing a pair of community presentations and its scheduled city reports, the council discussed Oak Ridge North’s rental policy for the baseball fields at Marilyn Edgar Park. The council approved changes to the policy, including a requirement that rental payments be made up front and the elimination of make-up dates for any cancellations due to weather or other events. The council also agreed on setting two time blocks for evening rentals, running from 5-7 p.m. and 7:15-9:15 p.m. The field booking rate remains $45 per hour.
The council also approved ordinances suspending a rate increase request from CenterPoint Energy Resources Corp. and denying a rider request from Entergy Texas Inc. CenterPoint filed for a Gas Reliability Infrastructure Program adjustment in March, which could raise city gas rates, and the council unanimously suspended a potential increase until July 10 in order to review the request. Entergy, which filed a Distribution Cost Recovery Factor application with the city in March that would have raised residents’ electricity rates, was unanimously denied its request.
