There is a lot going on in The Woodlands area this week between school starting for Tomball ISD, council meetings and a renovation ceremony. Here are a few things residents of The Woodlands should know this week, Aug. 21-25. 1. Classes resume Aug. 22 for Tomball ISD students. Glade Arts Foundation hosts a renovation ceremony Aug. 22. The ceremony will celebrate The Woodlands’ new fine arts cultural center, which is expected to open in November. The 7,900 square-foot center will host thematic exhibitions from a variety of artists, in addition to a permanent curated collection of David Adickes. The Woodlands Township Board of Directors meets Aug. 23. Shenandoah City Council meets Aug. 23. Shenandoah City Council is expected to accept the resignation of City Administrator Greg Smith during Wednesday night's meeting. City Secretary Kathie Reyer will be named as Interim City Administrator. Other items to note on the agenda include consideration and possible action to approve a settlement agreement with Hou-Scape, consideration and possible action regarding the building permit fee schedule, discussion regarding the tax rate for FY 2017-18 and discussion regarding the city’s budget for FY 2017-18. The council may also approve nominations to serve on the Montgomery County Appraisal District Board of Directors and the Montgomery County Emergency Communication District Board of Directors. A solar eclipse will be visible today between 11:45 a.m.-2:45 p.m. Although Houston is not in the line of totality, spectators should still take precautions when attempting to view the eclipse.
