Between budget meetings and the first day of school, it is a busy week in The Woodlands area. Here is what residents need to know to kick off the week:

1. The Woodlands Township meets this week for multiple workshops to discuss the budget for the 2018 fiscal year. The township will determine the property tax rate as well proposed capital improvement projects for the year, which so far include new docks for Lake Woodlands, park improvements and flood monitoring stations. 2. Oak Ridge North City Council meets tonight for a regular council meeting to discuss the 2018 fiscal year budget, a proposed curfew for residents under the age of 17 during school hours, and a public hearing for a proposed change to the city's impact fees. 7 p.m. 27424 Robinson Road, Oak Ridge North. 281-292-4648. www.oakridgenorth.com

3. Conroe ISD holds its monthly meeting Tuesday evening to discuss the 2017-18 budget and proposed tax rate. Other agenda items of note include discussing the 2017 preliminary STAAR and end-of-course testing results and a presentation of proposed names for the district's new intermediate school, set to open in time for the 2018-19 school year. 4. The first day of school starts Wednesday morning for students in Conroe ISD. Find everything students should know before they start the school year here. 

5. The Woodlands Township holds a regular board of directors meeting Thursday evening.
