Starting Monday, residents of The Woodlands will be able to recycle used clothes, shoes and home goods without ever having to leave their houses. The Woodlands Township has partnered with Simple Recycling, a for-profit curbside recycling service that distributes free bags for residents to fill with items to prevent recyclable good from ending up in area landfills. According to a release from the township, the average American throws away 70 pounds of clothing and and textiles per year, and only 15 percent of clothing is donated. Through Simple Recycling, clothing that would be thrown away is resold to thrift stores or processed to reuse raw materials. To participate, residents will receive bags in the mail to fill with eligible items. Once full, bags can be placed curbside next to recycling carts on normal recycling service days. A replacement bag will be left by Simple Recycling for additional or future items. For more information on recycling days and eligible items, residents can visit The Woodlands Township website here.
