Three new council members have been elected to serve on Shenandoah City Council, according to unofficial election results.
In the Position 2 race, Ted Fletcher garnered 48 percent, or 307 votes, compared to incumbent John Houston's 48 percent, or 305 votes. Jason Camara received 4 percent, or 24 votes, according to unofficial results.
Fletcher said it was a very close race and gave his best to his opponent, Houston, who he said ran a great race.
"The city is very divided—that's obvious. But the city has spoken, and it's time to go to work," Fletcher said. "I'm very thankful and humbled by the support of the city. I believe the city of Shenandoah is truly a community of neighbors helping neighbors, and it's time for the city to go back to remembering who we are, and that's neighbors helping neighbors ... I look forward to serving the city."
Byron Bevers earned 55 percent, or 352 votes, while Nancy Smith earned 45 percent, or 288 votes for the Position 3 race.
"I'm really excited that it appears voters of Shenandoah heard my ideas for the city and agreed with them, and I look forward to starting to implement those ideas right away," Bevers said.
In the Position 4 race, challenger Charlie Bradt earned 51 percent, or 327 votes, while incumbent Jean Teague earned 49 percent, or 315 votes.
"It was a very close, tight race," Bradt said. "I had a formidable opponent, and I am elated."

Early voting results show three close races for contested seats on the Shenandoah City Council. Seven candidates are competing for three council races on Saturday.
In the Position 2 race, incumbent John Houston received 48 percent, or 192 early votes. Ted Fletcher also received 48 percent, or 190 early votes, while Jason Camara received 4 percent, or 17 votes, according to unofficial early voting results.
Byron Bevers earned 52 percent of the early vote, or 208 votes, in the Position 3 race, and challenger Nancy Smith earned 48 percent of the vote, or 195 votes.
Challenger Charlie Bradt leads incumbent Jean Teague with one vote for the Position 4 seat, according to the unofficial early voting totals. Bradt received 201 early votes, while Teague received 200 early votes.
