Shenandoah City Council met for its regular meeting Wednesday night to discuss several items, including the city's fourth water plant and MetroPark Square.

1. The council unanimously approved an extension of a special use permit for Goode Co. BBQ and Goode Co. Kitchen and Cantina.
Goode Co. Restaurants requested an extension on a SUP, which allows both restaurants to sell mixed alcohol beverages on premise. According to the request, the permit was set to expire June 22 however, council unanimously approved the SUP extension until Sept. 15. The restaurants, which are expected to open in early summer, will be located at 8865 Six Pines Drive, Ste. 100 and 105, Shenandoah.

2. The council unanimously awarded the bid for Water Plant No. 4 in the amount of $1,754,050.
The city received eight bids for the project and awarded the project to the lowest bidder, Scheir Construction. The council has yet to determine how the project will be paid for—whether through a bond, reserves or a combination of both—and will consider payment options at future meetings.

3. The council unanimously approved a replat request for MetroPark Square.
The replat provides for additional right of way and adjusts lot lines as identified in the modified site plan, which was approved by Shenandoah’s Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council March 22.

The developer recently announced new tenants to join the mixed-use development's anchor, an AMC-10.

4. The city made Chelsea Everette an honorary Shenandoah Police Officer and announced the 2017 Shenandoah resident scholarship fund winners.
Chelsea Everette, a 10-year-old Shenandoah resident who is fighting cancer, was made an honorary Shenandoah police officer during the City Council meeting for her bravery. The city also declared April 26 in her name.

The city awarded two Shenandoah residents with $1,000 scholarships through the Shenandoah Resident Scholarship Fund. The money was raised through the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship and donations.

This year’s scholarship recipients are Amanda Doyle and Tarunika Choudhary.
