The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural Business Votes Day will take place Oct. 27 with the goal of improving membership turnout in elections.

"We have a very important election approaching in November, not only nationally, but also locally, and the more people who take part in the election process, the better," chamber president and CEO J.J. Hollie said.

The chamber's Governmental Affairs Department partnered with several local companies to provide voter educational tools, such as sample ballots and information on registering to vote as well as polling locations and times.

A Voting Valet service will be available from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 27 to transport employees in The Woodlands to and from the polls. Companies can schedule times with the Governmental Affairs Department, and each ride should take 30-45 minutes round trip, director of governmental affairs Angela Storseth-Cooper said. Employees using the valet service must be registered to vote in Montgomery County.

After 5 p.m., Kirby’s Steakhouse will be open to celebrate Business Votes Day with the Chamber’s “Party From the Polls” event. Patrons must show their “I Voted” sticker for entry.
