Back to school: 7 places for teachers to stock up during Tax-Free Weekend, Aug. 11-13


With school starting in less than two weeks for some districts in the Greater Houston area, it is time for teachers to begin stocking up on back to school decorations and supplies to get classrooms ready for the new school year. Here are seven local businesses in the Houston area for teachers to visit during next week’s annual Tax Free Weekend:


In addition to teacher supplies—such as bulletin board materials, planners and office supplies often purchased at the start of the school year—Adelyne’s offers boutique clothing and gift items ranging from jewelry and candles to home decor and serving pieces.

Crystal Children & Teacher Supply

The store offers items for parents as well as teachers, including workbooks, flash cards, grade books, planners and educational games.

The Teacher Creature Store

The store offers teaching supplies, tutoring and classroom pets such as turtles, fish, frogs and hermit crabs. The store has recently expanded in a new location to provide room for more merchandise.
