No. 4 on our list examines several contested seats in the upcoming 2018 election:
What we reported
Several local and state elected positions are contested in this year’s midterm elections. In Harris and Montgomery counties, judges Ed Emmett and Craig Doyal are up for election as well as Commissioner Jack Cagle in Harris County and Commissioner Charlie Riley in Montgomery County.
At the federal level, U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady, R-The Woodlands, is up for re-election, as is U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz. Brady has one Democratic opponent and will advance to the general election while candidates from both parties have filed for Cruz’s seat. The District 15 seat held by State Rep. Mark Keough, R-The Woodlands, is also contested following the announcement of his intention to run for Montgomery County judge last May.
Additionally, Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick are also up for re-election. Multiple candidates from both parties have filed to run for each seat.
What’s next
