The Howard Hughes Corporation celebrated the official groundbreaking for the first Moviehouse & Eatery in the Greater Houston area, Jan. 30.

The theater will be the anchor for the 12-acre Creekside Park West retail center near Kuykendahl Road between Creekside Forest Drive and West Harmony Place.

It will be the sixth Moviehouse & Eatery in Texas, with other locations currently in Austin and Dallas. Chance Robertson, executive vice president of Moviehouse & Eatery, said the location will feature 11 screens and serve food, as well as offering a full bar for patrons.

“We come to you and everything happens at your seat,” Robertson said. “You have a server just like you would in a restaurant, and if you need anything along the way there’s a button on the side of your chair. The entire experience can happen from the comfort of your chair.”

The theater has an anticipated completion date of fall this year.

“We felt this is a great introduction for the Moviehouse brand,” Robertson said. “We want it to be a better experience, and this just feels like the right setting for that.”

Rip Reynolds, vice president of leasing and commercial land for Howard Hughes Corp., said an extensive search had been done to find the ideal community leader for the retail center, which he believes to be Moviehouse & Eatery.
