The United Way of Greater Houston hosted its annual Women Who Rock event Feb. 9 in The Woodlands to raise money for scholarships for young mothers pursuing higher education.
In 2017, United Way answered more than 1 million calls to the 211 hotline to help connect residents in need to basic services as well as food and shelter.
A Houston native and graduate of St. Edward's University in Austin, Wendy Sturges has worked as a community journalist covering local government, health care, business and development since 2011. She has worked with Community Impact since 2015 as a reporter and editor and moved to Tennessee in 2019.
