Community members will have a final chance in late April to weigh in on the creation of a transit system in southwest Houston and Fort Bend County.

What residents need to know

The Houston-Galveston Area Council, in partnership with the Gulf Coast Rail District—which is dedicated to enhancing the economic benefits of railways—is seeking public feedback on creating a transit system along the Hwy. 90A corridor.

The system would pass through Missouri City, Stafford, Sugar Land, Richmond, Rosenberg and Southwest Houston, according to H-GAC’s project website. The corridor doesn’t currently have transit options.

The study, which began last March, aims to assess the feasibility of a transit service, such as a light rail transit or bus rapid transit system, per the project website.

Zooming in

Project officials will host a public meeting April 23 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Fort Bend County Libraries Missouri City Branch, located at 1530 Texas Parkway, Missouri City. The meeting will showcase project alternatives and allow time for community feedback, per the project website.

To learn more, residents can visit H-GAC’s project website or contact Project Manager Thomas Gray at 832-681-2545 or [email protected].
