The 2023 results, which were released Dec. 12, show both Missouri City and Sugar Land’s median household income rose between the 2023 five-year estimates and 2018 five-year estimates.
While Sugar Land’s increased 12.5% from $122,233 to $137,511, Missouri City’s increased 7.1% from $90,335 to $96,746, according to the data.The details
Additionally, the educational attainment of the area’s residents decreased in Missouri City but increased in Sugar Land over the five-year period.
A smaller percentage of both Missouri City residents age 25 and older received a high school diploma or higher, or a bachelor’s degree or higher, dropping 1.2 and 2.9 percentage points over that period, respectively. However, more than 90% of residents in the age group still have a high school diploma or higher.Meanwhile, more Sugar Land residents gained their high school diploma or bachelor’s degree over the five-year period, gaining between one and two percentage points, according to the data.
When comparing 2023 data for the two cities, Sugar Land residents obtained at minimum their high school diploma or bachelor’s degree at a higher percentage than Missouri City residents.Click here to see how the Katy area compared.
