What residents need to know
In collaboration with multidisciplinary services firm Ardurra, city officials began efforts to update its master plan in June following multiple rezoning concerns from City Council members and residents.
The plan aims to provide guidance on undeveloped land, redevelopment areas and 10 focus areas, according to the newly launched comprehensive plan update website.
The city’s comprehensive master plan was completed in 1971, and the most updated version of the plan was adopted in 2017, according to the website.
The details
According to the project website, the city will host several virtual focus groups, which will provide a general overview and the opportunity to share input for identified focus areas. Pre-registration is required for the online meetings, which will focus on the different study corridors, including:
- Sept. 12 (6 p.m.): FM 1092/Independence Boulevard
- Sept. 23 (6 p.m.): Highway 6
- Sept. 24 (6 p.m.): Watts Plantation and Knight Road
- Sept. 26 (6 p.m.): Trammel Fresno and Fort Bend Parkway
- Sept 28 (10 a.m.): Fondren Road and South Gessner Road
- Sept 28 (1 p.m.): Texas Parkway and Cartwright Road
Additionally, residents can provide feedback at public Planning and Zoning Commission meetings at 7 p.m. on Sept. 11 and Oct. 9.
What else?
Residents also have the opportunity to share their opinions on priorities and focus areas via an online questionnaire that opened in late August, according to the website.
Community Impact reached out to Missouri City for more information on the deadline for this questionnaire, but it was not returned by press time.

Milestones for the city’s update to the comprehensive plan include:
- October: Hold a joint City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, and release a draft report with recommendations
