Hours after canceling all after-school activities, Fort Bend ISD has closed all of its schools and facilities for Feb. 4, the district announced Feb. 3.
The decision was made “to ensure the safety of all students, parents and staff,” the district said in the announcement.
The announcement comes ahead of cold weather that is expected to bring temperatures in the low 20s with wind chills in the teens Feb. 3-4, according to the National Weather Service. In addition, anywhere from 0.01-0.10 inches of freezing rain/ice is expected into the late hours of Feb. 3 and early Feb. 4 for Fort Bend County, according to the National Weather Service.
