The Fort Bend ISD board of trustees approved the proposed instructional calendar for the 2019-20 school year during its Jan. 22 board meeting.

The school year will begin Aug. 14 and end May 28. Here are the important dates to know:

Aug. 14—first day of classes
Sept. 2—Labor Day, no school
Sept. 27—Fort Bend County Fair Day, no school
Oct. 10—elementary parent conference, early release
Oct. 11—professional learning day, no school
Oct. 14—Columbus Day, no school
Nov. 25-29—Thanksgiving break
Dec. 19—early release
Dec. 20-Jan. 7—winter break
Jan. 20—Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school
Feb. 13—elementary parent conference, early release
Feb. 14—professional learning day, no school
Feb. 17—President’s Day, no school
March 9-13—spring break
April 10—Good Friday, no school
April 13—professional learning day, no school
May 25—Memorial Day, no school
May 28—last day of school, early release

Graduation dates will be determined at a later date. The school district has posted the full calendar on its website.

The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, testing dates will be determined by the state at a later date.
