Both Missouri City and Sugar Land city councils meet Tuesday, and candidate filings begin Wednesday for Sugar Land City Council and the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees.
Here's what residents of Missouri City and Sugar Land need to know to get a jump start on this week, Jan. 15-19.

Sugar Land City Council meets Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Sugar Land City Hall, 2700 Town Square Blvd., Sugar Land. Agenda items of note include a workshop regarding an
update to the city's Land Use Plan as well as consideration and potential action on an agreement regarding improvements to Sugar Land Town Square Plaza. View the full agenda,

Missouri City City Council meets Tuesday for a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. and a regular meeting at 7 p.m. at Missouri City City Hall, 1522 Texas Parkway, Missouri City.
Special meeting agenda items of note include receiving a Code Enforcement Task Force update on activities and accomplishments as well as considering options to allow outside art on private property.
Regular meeting agenda items of note include a public hearing on a planned development amendment to allow for an adult day care center as well as consideration of a resolution approving and ratifying a firearms purchasing program for the city's peace officers.
3) Wednesday marks the first day for candidates to
begin filing for the May 5 election. The
Sugar Land mayor and at large positions 1 and 2 are up for election, and candidates for
Fort Bend ISD's board of trustees positions 2 and 6 will be on the ballot.
