There are several things for Sugar Land and Missouri City residents to keep in mind this week, Jan. 8-12:

1) Fort Bend ISD is back in session Jan. 8, following winter break. The board of trustees meets Monday at 6 p.m. at 16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land. Agenda items include discussion on revisions to local board policies, review of the proposed 2018-19 district calendar and related staff development waiver, and review proposed items regarding the 2014 bond program.

2) Fort Bend County Commissioners Court meets Jan. 9 at 401 Jackson St., Richmond. Agenda items include taking action on creating Fort Bend County Reinvestment Zone No. 19 in Precinct 1 and entering an Agreement for Participation with in the Federal Emergency Management Agency pilot program for direct administrative costs related to Hurricane Harvey.

3) A public meeting regarding Sugar Land's Telfair-Tract 5 development will be held at University Branch Library, 14010 University Blvd., Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m. A draft plan for the 95 acres near University Blvd. and Hwy. 59 will be presented, and the public is encouraged to attend and provide input.

4) Missouri City hosts its monthly Leadership Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 11 at City Centre at Quail Valley, 2880 La Quinta Drive, Missouri City. This month's guest speaker is Steve Toler, Media Relations Director for the City of Plano. He will discuss Plano's rise as a global leader in economic development. The luncheon is $15 per person.

5) Tickets for the 2018 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo go on sale Jan. 11. The lineup was announced Jan. 4, and performers include Little Big Town, Keith Urban, Zac Brown Band and Brad Paisley.
