Family-owned Brooklyn Pizzeria opened its newest eatery in the University Commons shopping center.

On the menu

The eatery serves various Brooklyn-style pizzas, appetizers, sub sandwiches, pastas and homemade desserts such as limoncello mascarpone. Ingredients are shipped from New York to make the pies as authentically as possible, owner Jimmy Shahini said.

“We're doing everything from scratch every single day,” he said.

What else

This is the 15th Houston-area location for the eatery, said Shahini, who runs the businesses with his two brothers and father. The Shahini family opened the first location in Humble in 2006, Community Impact reported.

Two other locations are nearby in Missouri City and Richmond.

"We think that people need ... [a] good pizza restaurant, and that's why we picked the site to open here," he said.
