The candidate filing window for the Nov. 6 general election closed Monday, Aug. 20, and multiple candidates—new and incumbent—have filed for Missouri City City Council races, which include mayor and at-large positions 1 and 2.

Incumbent Allen Owen is running against Fred Taylor and Yolanda Ford, who already sits on City Council as Mayor Pro Tem and represents of District A.

If a sitting council member runs for mayor or for any council position not his or her own, that council member automatically resigns from his or her current seat, effective as of the date of the election, according to the city charter. City Council reserves the right to appoint an individual to fulfill a vacated position, serving until the next regular city election.

For at-large position 1, incumbent Jerry Wyatt is running against Vashaundra Edwards.

Meanwhile, four individuals have entered the race for at-large position 2, including incumbent Chris Preston. Other candidates include Susan Soto, Angie Wierzbicki and H.R. “Buddy” Snyder.

The last day to file a declaration of write-in candidacy is Friday, Aug. 24.
