Fort Bend ISD will construct a new elementary school within the upcoming master-planned community of Harvest Green, which will unveil its first model homes later this year. The campus is expected to open for the 2017-18 school year.

The new elementary school will be the third FBISD campus within the 1,300-acre master-planned community, joining Bowie Middle School and Travis High School.

Johnson Development officials said the new elementary will be connected to the community’s paved hike and bike trails. Harvest Green General Manager Shay Shafie said the new school is projected to help attract new families and drive home sales as the community continues to develop.

"Quality, on-site schools are one of the biggest selling points for young families considering a master-planned community,” Shafie said.  "Families appreciate the convenience of walking or biking with their kids to a neighborhood school.  Plus, a quality, neighborhood school helps connect families, and that ultimately creates a stronger community."
