Democratic candidate Michael Ellison leads Republican candidate and incumbent Troy Nehls in political donations and expenditures for the Fort Bend County Sheriff race so far, according to the latest round of campaign finance reports submitted to election officials Tuesday.
Every opposed candidate in the Nov. 8 election must file a contributions and expenditures report 30 days before the election. This latest round of reports, the first mandated disclosure since this summer, covers all financials from July 1 to Sept. 29, according to the Texas Ethics Commission.
Here is how much donation money each candidate earned and spent for the county sheriff election during that timeframe:
Ellison: $6,965 contributions, $1,984.60 expenditures
Nehls: $1,000 contributions, $1,745 expenditures
Here’s three of the top financial supporters for each campaign:
Ellison
- Communications Workers of America, $2,000
- Keep Al Green in Congress, $1,000
- Sandra Smith, $500
Nehls
- The Spirit of Freedom Republican Womens Club, $1,000
The next campaign finance report deadline is Oct. 31, or eight days before the election.
