The organization has focused on promoting arts and culture in public spaces throughout Sugar Land since its founding in December 1999, according to a news release from the organization. Some projects the foundation has taken on include:
- Adding public art to local traffic boxes
- Bringing murals to the lobby of the Smart Financial Centre
- Hosting the annual Sugar Land Arts & Music Fest
- Raising $1.5 million to restore the historic Sugar Land Auditorium
"Through a vibrant blend of events, community partnerships, and youth programs, SLCAF has been instrumental in promoting and connecting the arts with the community," SLCAF President Tim Stubenrouch said in the release. "As Sugar Land grows as an arts hub, SLCAF continues to play a foundational role in empowering creativity across all ages."What’s next
The foundation’s biggest fundraiser, the Sugar Land Arts & Music Fest, will return for its fourth year on April 26-27 at the Smart Financial Centre, according to the release. The two-day festival will feature various mediums from local, regional and national artists as well as food, wine and live music.
The foundation will accept artist applications through March 1, per an October release from the SLCAF.
The SLCAF’s fundraisers and galas support local initiatives, expand partnerships with local organizations and provide scholarships to underserved Fort Bend County children, according to the release.
