CVR Energy, a renewable fuels, petroleum refining and nitrogen-based fertilizer company headquartered in Sugar Land Town Square, has not only renewed its lease but also announced plans to renovate its space.

Located at 2277 Plaza Drive, Ste. 500, Sugar Land, CVR Energy renewed its lease on July 19 at its 51,175-square-foot headquarters, the largest tenant in Sugar Land Town Square, which features office spaces, a Marriott hotel, 167 condos, and retail and dining options, according to a July 19 announcement from the company.

The Sugar Land Office of Economic Development engaged in a competitive bidding process to retain CVR in Sugar Land Town Square, resulting in a direct incentive from the SLDC of $1 million to be paid over 10 years. With the direct incentive, CVR said it intends to remain headquartered in Sugar Land, enhance its existing office space and retain 165 employees at an average annual salary of at least $85,000.

“CVR has been an integral part of Sugar Land’s business community for the past 15 years,” said Devon Rodriguez, assistant economic development director at the Sugar Land Office of Economic Development. “We are thrilled that CVR has chosen to remain headquartered in our community. This incentive is an investment in our city’s assets and our talented workforce.”

CVR Energy will invest $4.6 million into renovating its office, according to the announcement. The company said renovations are estimated to begin in early 2023.
