City and county governments are holding meetings this week, while other events and lane closures are scheduled as well. See what Sugar Land and Missouri City residents can expect this week:

Monday


Missouri City City Council meets
City Council will, among other agenda items, hold a public hearing on applications for funds from the city's 2017 Community Development Block Grant. The city was awarded $281,265 from program, which is designed to support projects in low-income areas and which is being considered for termination in the proposed fiscal 2017-18 federal budget.

Appointments of municipal court judges will also be considered and the council is expected to ratify two joint resolutions with Fort Bend ISD. A special meeting begins at 6 p.m. and the regular meeting starts at 7 p.m., both of which are held at 1522 Texas Parkway, Missouri City.

Tuesday


Fort Bend County Commissioners Court meets
The Commissioners Court will hold its regular meeting at 1 p.m. on the second floor of the county courthouse, located at 401 Jackson St., Richmond. Agenda items include approving local traffic plans, authorizing $1,295 for asbestos services to renovate the historic Missouri City gymnasium, and authorizing the Community Supervision and Corrections department to advertise for proposals for short term mental health residential services.

Sugar Land City Council meets
City Council will hold workshops to discuss the design and construction schedule for further development of Mayfield Park, and on ownership options for the city to take over the Sugar Land Auditorium from FBISD.

The council will also consider denying CenterPoint Energy a natural gas rate increase, similar to what Missouri City City Council approved in March. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at 2700 Town Center Blvd. N., Sugar Land.

Second annual Fort Bend ISD Film Fest
The festival is a showcase for FBISD's Digital Learning department and features productions from students at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
