Construction is wrapping up on the $84 million Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land. In anticipation of the Jan. 14 grand opening—headlined by comedian Jerry Seinfeld—staff gave local media a tour of the 200,000-square-foot performance venue.
With movable walls, the space is designed to support different-sized events ranging from 3,000 seats to 6,400 seats.
"The venue itself is designed to be able to accommodate any artist at any size and make it feel like that artist should be here," said Gary Becker of ACE Sugar Land. "It's really something unique and something the city of Houston, the city of Sugar Land and the region has never seen before."
Along with the city's new festival site and the future Imperial Market mixed-use development, the Smart Financial Centre is expected to bring
new tourism to Sugar Land.
