Bridging for Tomorrow

This organization offers a food pantry as well as classes for adults and youth programs. Bridging for Tomorrow volunteers who work in the food pantry must be at least 14 years old to volunteer with an adult, while those age 16 and older may volunteer without an adult. Volunteers who work in the nonprofit’s student programs must be age 18 or older.

This local nonprofit is a day center providing basic assistance for adults experiencing homelessness Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Services include meals, clothing, showers, laundry, medical assistance, social services, assistance with identification, referrals for addiction recovery, computer access, and weekly Bible studies for men and women.

The Houston Cannery

Owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Welfare Services Division, this cannery produces peanut butter to be distributed to those in need throughout the U.S. Community groups are encouraged to participate by providing groups of 12 volunteers for four-hour team-building experiences. This organization serves children entering foster care by supporting foster families and licensing them for care and therapeutic services. The nonprofit prioritizes transitioning children to return to their biological families in a healthier environment and finding a safe foster home when reuniting biological families is not possible as well as providing other community-based services to improve family stability. WINGS Ministries

WINGS Ministries teaches faith-based job-readiness and life skills to at-risk women who are incarcerated or in residential recovery for drug and alcohol addiction in the Greater Houston area. Hearts of Rescue

This faith-based nonprofit focuses on serving young men ages 18-28 who have aged out of the foster care system and/or are experiencing homelessness. The organization provides a residential home for several disadvantaged young men and aims to provide them healing, support and life skills in a Christ-centered environment.
