With 100 percent of precincts reporting, incumbent Valoree Swanson has won the Republican primary race for Texas State Representative District 150 with 9,530, or 80.11 percent of votes. Challenger James Richard Wison received 2,366, or 19.89 percent of votes. All results are unofficial until canvassed.

With 76 percent of precincts reporting, incumbent Valoree Swanson has taken the lead in the Republican primary race for Texas State Representative District 150 with 8,536, or 80.09 percent of the vote. Challenger James Richard Wilson received 2,122, or 19.91 percent of the vote.

If she wins, she will face Democratic challenger Michael Shawn Kelly in November.

Swanson could not immediately be reached for comment on election night.

Polls closed at 7 p.m. in the primary election, and early voting results show incumbent Valoree Swanson taking a lead in the Republican primary for Texas State Representative District 150 with 5,102, or 81.99 percent of early and absentee votes. Challenger James Richard Wilson received 1,121, or 18.01 percent of early and absentee votes.

The winner will face Democratic challenger Michael Shawn Kelly, who is running unopposed in the primary election, in November.

Experience: Swanson serves as representative of District 150. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and has lived in District 150 for nearly 15 years.






James Richard Wilson


Experience: Wilson works as an insurance agent and has lived in District 150 for 12 years. He previously served as legislative assistant for state Rep. Joe Driver, R-Garland, and chief of staff for state Rep. Bill Siebert, R-San Antonio, in the Texas Legislature as well as a member of the Klein ISD Strategic Planning Committee.
