TRANSPORTATION UPDATES


1. Aldine Westfield Road widening


The widening project between East Louetta and Riley Fuzzel roads will widen the two-lane asphalt roadway to a four-lane thoroughfare. Harris County awarded the construction contract to Allgood Construction Company in September. Utility relocations are in progress by the respective utility companies, and roadway construction will begin when utility relocation is completed. The contractor is ready to mobilize and planned to start at the end of April, weather permitting.

2. Gosling Road bridge


A second Gosling Road bridge over Spring Creek, which spans Harris and Montgomery counties, has been designed by The Woodlands Road Utility District. The design and construction is being studied by both counties. The Gosling Road bridge project will be initiated once Harris and Montgomery counties identify funds to design and construct the improvements.

3. Gosling Road Segment 1 widening


The project from Spring Stuebner to West Mossy Oaks roads will widen Gosling Road to five lanes with a 14-foot median between the Grand Parkway and West Mossy Oaks Road. Texas Sterling Construction was awarded the project in December. Construction will begin upon completion of utility relocations. The construction contract allots 360 calendar days for completion.

Cost: $8.8 million

4. Gosling Road widening segments 2 and 3


Segments 2 and 3 of the Gosling Road widening are in the study phase. Segment 2 is between West Mossy Oaks and West Rayford roads.
Segment 3 is between West Rayford Road and Creekside Forest Drive. The study will determine the road alignment.
Timeline: TBD

5. Hufsmith-Kohrville and Holderrieth roads improvements


Designs for a traffic signal and intersection improvements are being finalized by the Tomball Economic Development Corporation before they are sent to the county. Harris County expects to send the project out for bid in the fourth quarter of 2016.

6. I-45 HOV lane extension


The I-45 high occupancy vehicle lane extension from north of FM 1960 in northern Harris County to South Loop 336 in Conroe is scheduled to be completed in May.
Timeline: October 2015-May 2016

7. Kuykendahl Road bridge


A joint project between The Woodlands Road Utility District and Harris and Montgomery counties, a second Kuykendahl Road bridge over Spring Creek is being designed by WRUD. The Kuykendahl Road bridge project will be bid upon completion of project development.

8. Riley Fuzzel Road widening


This improvement project includes upgrading the existing two-lane asphalt roadway to five lanes west of Hardy Toll Road. The project is in the design phase and is expected to be published for bidding in the second quarter of 2016.
Timeline: first quarter 2017-third quarter 2017
Cost: $2.2 million

9. TC Jester Boulevard signal improvements


The improvements, including traffic signals between FM 1960 and
FM 2920, are a joint project between the Texas Department of Transportation and Harris County. In September, the first of four traffic signal systems were activated. In March, two more traffic signal systems were activated at Alvin A. Klein Drive and Springbrook Hollow Lane.
Timeline: March 2014-second quarter 2016
Cost: $2.6 million
