Alix Attaway took ownership of Goodwoods British Market on May 15 following the retirement of her father, Richard Goodlad, who owned the business for the past 31 years.
Located in Old Town Spring at 220 Gentry St., Spring, Goodwoods British Market opened in Old Town Spring in 1991 and offers a wide selection of food items from the United Kingdom ranging from pork and meat pies to pasties and tea.
Attaway, who has worked at the family-owned British grocer since she was 13, had been shadowing and training under her father for the past two years prior to taking the reins. According to a May 15 news release, Attaway is a first-generation American and dual citizen of England who plans to use her public relations experience to further expand the business's online and in-person presence.
As previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper, Goodwoods British Market moved to its current location in Old Town Spring in August 2019. Most recently, Attaway completed a full remodel of the store, the release stated. 281-419-7540. www.goodwoods.com
