Guaranteed maximum prices on construction were approved for two Spring ISD facility projects at recent district board meetings.

In a nutshell

On May 13, SISD trustees approved $41.5 million for work on the new Spring High School. The package will include work for the project such as drainage, underground utilities and paving work, Chief of District Operations Mark Miranda said during the board’s May 8 work session.

The new SHS will measure 740,000 square feet and is currently under construction, according to the district’s website. Construction is slated to be complete by the fall of 2028.

SISD’s new SHS has a total budget of $430 million, according to the district’s website. The project is funded under SISD’s $850 million bond, which was approved by voters in 2022.

What else?

On June 24, SISD trustees approved $5.3 million for renovations to the district’s Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee Family and Community Engagement Center, according to a June 26 email from a district spokesperson. The package will include:
  • Pool renovations and a new restroom for the pool area
  • A new parking lot
On May 20, trustees approved $182,810 for the center, which covers work such as added fencing. A third guaranteed maximum price for this project—to cover main building renovations—will eventually be brought to trustees for consideration.
