What they're saying

“I'm so very grateful to be sitting here in front of you and have the opportunity to serve the Hofius community," Zamora said during the Aug. 14 board meeting.

“I just want to say thank you to [KISD Superintendent Jenny] McGown and our board of trustees for this amazing opportunity and share what a joy it's been to open up the school year at Klein Cain High School," Marti said during the Aug. 14 board meeting.

The two new principals welcomed students back to campus for the start of the 2023-24 school year on Aug. 9.

In other business

U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt, R-Houston, was honored as a KISD Distinguished Alumni during the board’s Aug. 14 meeting. Hunt, who was elected to represent the newly created U.S. District 38 in November, attended Epps Island Elementary School and Wunderlich Intermediate School before leaving the district to attend St. John's School in Houston.

Hunt reflected on the teachers and staff he said made a difference in his life during his time with the district.

“I want to thank you all so much for what you do every day,” Hunt said during the Aug. 14 board meeting. "There is no greater cause than your service in protecting us and, of course, the service that you do in educating our youth. ... What an honorable thing to do for our country. It’s because of you that we will actually have a future.”
