Ahead of the 2022-23 school year, the Klein ISD board of trustees named two new intermediate campus principals and a new associate superintendent of facility and school services during its July 11 meeting.

Spring Payne will serve as the new principal of Kleb Intermediate School, while Liz Edmondson will serve as the new principal of Krimmel Intermediate School. Payne previously served as an assistant principal at Strack Intermediate School, while Edmondson previously served as an associate principal at Klein Collins High School.

"Thank you to Dr. [Jenny] McGown and all of the cabinet members and the board for allowing me this opportunity," Edmondson said during the meeting. "It's been a long time coming for me, but I've wanted to be a building principal for a very long time, and I can assure you that we're going to do fabulous things at Krimmel [Intermediate School], and I'm very excited about this opportunity."

Additionally, the board approved the appointment of August Wunderlich as the district's new associate superintendent of facility and school services in a 6-0 vote. Trustee Dustin Creager was not present for the vote.

According to KISD officials, Wunderlich has served in KISD for 30 consecutive years, most recently as the interim associate superintendent of facility and school services and as the executive director of facility and school services. In this role, Wunderlich will be instrumental in carrying out the projects outlined in the nearly $900 million bond approved by voters in May.

"I'm excited about the new bond and trying to make great things happen in Klein and make these old schools look better and look more like our new schools," Wunderlich said during the meeting. "So it's going to be a great adventure for me, and I really appreciate the opportunity."

As previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper, Wunderlich will take the place of Robert Robertson, who retired from the position earlier this summer.
