Klein ISD officials named five new elementary school principals ahead of the 2022-23 school year during a June 13 board meeting.

The new principals include Trena Grice, Meredith Moss, Carissa Rodgers, Charla Wilson and Heidi Sebren, who will serve as the principals of Epps Island, Frank, Krahn, Mahaffey and Mueller elementary schools, respectively. Officials noted Rodgers and Wilson are identical twin sisters who are now becoming KISD principals at the same time.

"We are so fortunate to have five new campus leaders at the elementary level," said Kelly Schumacker, who serves as KISD's associate superintendent of human resource services for KISD, during the board meeting.

Grice previously served as the dean of instruction at Nitsch Elementary, while Moss previously served as an assistant principal at Frank Elementary. Rodgers previously served as an assistant principal at Lemm Elementary and was recognized as KISD's Assistant Principal of the Year for the 2021-22 school year. Meanwhile, Wilson and Sebren previously served as assistant principals at Mahaffey and Northampton elementary schools, respectively.

In addition to recognizing the district's five new principals, KISD officials also recognized interim Chief of Staff Robert Robertson, who first joined KISD as the district's associate superintendent of facilities and school services in July 2009. Robertson will be retiring this summer.

"We are forever grateful for [Robertson's] unwavering service to our Klein ISD school community and the legacy he leaves as a champion for building our district infrastructure for today and for future generations," Superintendent Jenny McGown said during the meeting. "We wish him all the best as he closes this chapter on this part of his life and begins the next chapter with his retirement from the district."

Throughout his tenure, Robertson led district operations, including nutrition and food service, maintenance, transportation, plant operations, long-range planning and capital projects, and technology services. Prior to joining KISD, Robertson served for 23 years in the facility management of educational institutions and served in the Navy for six years.

The KISD board of trustees unanimously approved a resolution declaring June 13, 2022, as Robert Robertson Day in Klein, Texas. Trustee Doug James was absent during the June 13 board meeting.
